Our Community, Our Voice

WHAT HAVE WE DONE FOR YOU LATELY?

  • The SCCA is a non-partisan, non-profit organization established for the residents within the Parks of Stonecrest Community as well as neighboring concerns within the Mall of Stonecrest general area.  The central focal point being the neighborhood itself.
  • SCCA is devoted to the maintenance and furtherance of the civic, recreational, economic, educational and cultural aspects of the Community
  • A part of our mission to initiate where needed the revitalization of our community
  • We seek to organize the residents of the community into a cohesive working groups, to insure that our community remain clean, secure, politically relevant and a fun & productive place to live
  • We will work on economic development and entrepreneurial creativity within the surrounding community.
  • We will seek ways to help develop youth programs and foster educational development of our children.
  • We will encourage and promote safety awareness within the community.
  • As a residents educational and service organization whose prime purpose is to explore issues of concern to the Community.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE FOR YOU LATELY?

​​Since our inception, the Stonecrest Community Civic Association has been actively carrying out our mission to “Work Together for a Better Stonecrest,” and here is a summary of the Association accomplishments to date:

  • ​Member of the Stonecrest Business Alliance, One DeKalb Community Network and the South Lithonia Neighborhood Coalition to increase our reach.
  • Received two grants for the community: 1) Community Beautification Grant ($250) and 2) DeKalb Sustainable Neighborhoods Initiative Grant ($2,000)!!
  • ​Coordinated a “Getting to Grocery” forum with area residents and key stakeholders to discuss grocery store options in the Stonecrest Corridor.
  • Produce monthly newsletter, Stonecrest Matters (please sign up for our newsletter), to share important information with Community residents.
  • Prompted the Georgia Department of Transportation to repair to the I-20 Turner Hill Road exit and entrance ramps.
  • Held a community clean up days to improve the appearance of vacant lots and open spaces.
